Official Pickleball Court Dimensions

An official pickleball court measures 20 feet wide by 44 feet long, and this size applies to both singles and doubles matches. Each side features a 7-foot non-volley zone (also known as the Kitchen), and a centerline divides the service areas.

  • Court Length: 44 feet (13.41 meters)
  • Court Width: 20 feet (6.1 meters)
  • Non-Volley Zone: 7 feet (2.13 meters) from the net on each side
  • Net Height at Center: 34 inches

USA Pickleball recommends a total clear area of 30 feet by 60 feet to allow players to move freely and safely outside the court lines.

How to Set Up a Pickleball Court

  2. Mark the Court Lines: Use tape or paint to mark the 20 x 44-foot boundary.
  3. Mark the Kitchen: Measure 7 feet from the net on both sides and mark the non-volley zone.

  5. Ensure Safety: Provide lighting and, for indoor courts, ensure ceiling height of at least 18–20 feet.
  6. Allow Out-of-Bounds Space: Maintain at least 5 feet of clearance on each side, ideally 10 feet.
